A property and casualty insurance company in West Los Angeleshas an opening for a full-time Project Leader – Sr. Analyst/Programmer.  The projected annualized salary is $85,000-$95,000 plus benefits.  This is a supervisory-level position with some management responsibility.



Responsibilities
  • Participating in the analysis, design, coding, and testing of applications and reports in accordance with Information Systems department programming standards
  • Developing manuals to be used in training and administration
  • Identifying systems problems, recommend and implement solutions
  • Defining and create Business applications that interact with insurance-specific data and other existing systems
  • Acting as Project Manager by directing assigned individuals on projects
  • Keeping abreast of changes in Software Development Technology and how it relates to the Property and Casualty Insurance Industry.
  • Directly supervising a small programming team. 


Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university;
  • 5 years experience in the Property and Casualty Industry supporting business applications
  • Experience programming for Local Area Network systems, Client/Server or Internet Web based applications
  • Experience with requirements gathering, specification preparation and some project leadership, management, or supervision

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience developing applications for either Client/Server and/or Internet web-server environments
  • Familiarity with how PC’s work in a Microsoft Windows Network
  • Knowledge of database design and programming concepts, particularly for Microsoft SQL Server
  • Knowledge of major development tools such as Visual Basic, Access, VB.Net, Crystal Reports and SQL Server
  • Knowledge of all aspects of Property and Casualty Insurance Operations, e.g. rating, policy issuance, claims processing, reinsurance, regulatory and financial reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize new technical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all personnel, management, vendors, and customers
  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as technical manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, routine reports, and correspondence
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record and insured automobile.
